Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) holds the 15th World Wai Kru Muay Thai Ceremony
The 15th World Wai Kru Muay Thai Ceremony will be held between March 16 to17, 2019, at Wat Maha That and Wat Langkha Khao, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Historical Park, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province. The event highlights “Thainess” through a series of activities featuring the identity of the Thaiways of living, so foreign visitors can obtain an ultimate experience and impressive memory, and to encourage interested foreigners to see Muay Thai as a sacred ceremony as suggested by the concept “Once in a lifetime, all Muay Thai students from around the world should come to attend the Wai Kru Muay Thai Ceremony in Thailand.” They are also expected to bring their interested entourage to attend this sacred ceremony every year.
The World Wai Kru Muay Thai Ceremony follows the traditional Wai Kru Muay Thai procedures. The attractions of the event include a Wai Kru performance by reputed boxers, learning the background of Muay Thai, Thai martial arts, Miracle Muay Thai Festival (a professional Muay Thai competition), a demonstration of ancient Muay Thai instruction and fights; such as, Muay Chaiya, Muay Korat, Muay Tha Sao, Muay Lop Buri, demonstration of Thai handicrafts in cluding Yantra tattooing, Aranyik sword making and physical testing through ancient Muay Thai boxing drills; such as, kicking a punch bag, and a Muay Thai exhibition. Enjoy Ayutthaya’s signature local cuisine and sweets; such as, roti sai mai, ancient curry rice, and shredded chicken with noodles. The event offers varieties of memorable experiences for visitors and helps promote the Thai martial art to be recognised around the world to a greater extent.
