The “Ubon International Wax Festival 2018” features a wax candle procession and portrayal of contemporary transitions of culture and traditions via countless creative activities related to carving candles. This celebration in Thailand is very unique in utilising wax candles as the main carved material.  

•Display of local and international artisans’ uniquely contemporary beeswax carved sculptures that hold cultural values (The work will be made during 14 - 25 July, 2018, and on display between 26 - 28 July, 2018).
•Display of massive contemporary installed art made of woven bamboo - natural material. These art pieces are covered with wax, which will glow in the dark. During the day, visitors will also enjoy these creatively aesthetic art pieces that reflect the legacy of Thai wisdom (23 - 28 July, 2018).
•Creative Art Project: Participate in learning how to design your own fabric with batik techniques and candle making (23 - 28 July, 2018).
•Music performances (23 - 26 July, 2018, from 5.00 p.m. - 7.00 p.m.)
•Enjoy the grand candle procession on the morning of 28 July, 2018, while at night, see another candle procession with a light and sound presentation, in front of Wat Si Ubon Rattanaram (27 - 28 July, 2018).
•Partake in the “Visit Candle Making Community” activity: See the annual making and carving of elaborate candles in various temples around Ubon Ratchathani. These beautiful candles are the legacy of Thai wisdom that has been handed down for generations as part of merit-making. In addition, participate in melting the beeswax and pouring it into moulds to form huge candles (throughout the month of July 2018).
