Surin Candle festival and Merit Making on Elephants Back 2018
On 26-27 July 2018 at Phraya SurinPhakdi Si Narong Chang Wang Monument, Muang district, Surin province.
To inherit culture, tradition, and the goodness of Thai people and to promote tourism of Surin province.
“Surin Candle festival and Merit Making on Elephants Back 2018” this year is held as the twelfth year to promote tourism and inherit culture and tradition of Surin people to preserve culture and arts. The activities on 26 July 2018 starts at 16.00 P.M. You will see spectacular candle procession from 12 temples such as Buraparam temple, Salaloi temple, KlangSurin temple, etc, sixty-six-elephant procession, ornamented elephant procession, and Nation, Religious, and King procession. The processions consist of Rama I procession “building”, Rama II procession “literature”, Rama III procession “prosperous economic”, Rama IV “civilized concept”, Rama V procession “international culture” Rama VI procession “education”, Rama VII “democracy”, Rama VIII “Thai’s unity”, Rama IX “great glory”, and Rama X procession “peaceful population”
Do not miss out the religious ceremony on 27 July 2018 starting at 07.00 A.M. by making merit on elephant back that is one and only in the world at Phraya SurinPhakdi Si Narong Chang Wang Monument. Senior thera monks will sit on elephant back to receive food offered from tourists. In addition, we invite you to offer lent candle together for good fortune in life before Buddhist lent day at 10.00 A.M. at Buraparam temple, Muang district, Surin province.
