Auspicious Songkran Festival: Sand Castle and Grade Mahotara, Khampangphet 

Date 11-17 April 2018

It is to promote culture and tradition preservation by the cooperation of 27 communities in Muang Khampangphet Municipality area to promote Songkran activities to be the center for people in Khampangphet to join the preservation together to maintain Thai identity. However, some activities have been dropped out and modified to suit the changes. Therefore, to create the perception and promote tourism in the secondary cities through traditional festival shall increase the level of decision making to travel to the north of Thailand for the new experience. Thus, it is agreed to organize activity reflecting regional identity. 

 

Activities 

1. Cloth parade for covering Phra That 

2. Sacrificial offering procession and bathing City Pillar Shrine and Shiva Shrine 

3. Holy water station 

4. Retro Songkran activity, folk plays, and local food 

5. Sand castle building
